Young scientists will discover how to observe the world just like real scientists—by engaging their five senses! This class introduces learners to the foundational science skill of observation and how it helps us ask questions, make discoveries, and explore the world around us. Rooted in life science and scientific inquiry, this class encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation for how we experience the world. Students will learn how their senses help them gather data and make connections—an essential step in becoming thoughtful, curious investigators of all things STEAM!
Students will collaborate with peers as they explore and observe the natural world around them. Set on a hobby farm on the outskirts of New Braunfels, this class provides opportunities to interact with animals, investigate the garden, and engage in authentic, sensory-rich experiences. With animals in the classroom and plenty of outdoor exploration, students will connect science concepts to real-life encounters in a fun and meaningful way.
Each day, in addition to the day's topics, students will have time outside, weather permitting. Students will need a sack lunch, water bottle, and closed-toe shoes. A snack will be provided.
