In this hands-on engineering class, students will learn about the exciting world of structural design by building their own bridges and towers. They'll explore the basic principles of engineering, such as force, stability, and balance, and discover how different materials affect the strength and durability of their creations. Through a series of fun challenges, learners will design, test, and improve their structures—learning the importance of iteration and problem-solving in the engineering process. This class fosters creativity and critical thinking while encouraging teamwork and innovation.
Set on a hobby farm on the outskirts of New Braunfels, students will collaborate with peers as they explore and observe the natural world around them. This class provides opportunities to interact with animals, investigate the garden, and engage in authentic, sensory-rich experiences. With animals in the classroom and plenty of outdoor exploration, students will connect science concepts to real-life encounters in a fun and meaningful way.
Each day, in addition to the day's topics, students will have time outside, weather permitting. Students will need a sack lunch, water bottle, and closed-toe shoes. A snack will be provided.
