In this beginner-friendly coding class, students will take their first steps into the world of computer science and robotics using the VEX GO system. With a colorful, drag-and-drop coding platform and hands-on building components, learners will explore how technology works and begin to understand the power of programming. As they build simple robots and bring them to life with code, students will develop problem-solving skills and learn to think sequentially—an essential part of both coding and logical reasoning. This introduction to robotics and coding is a playful, yet purposeful, way to develop early computational thinking skills.
This is the FIFTH CLASS in the coding series. Prerequisite: Must have attended a previous coding class this school year. Since each coding class will build upon previous knowledge, we want to make sure that all students have a basic understanding so they will learn and have fun.
Set on a hobby farm on the outskirts of New Braunfels, students will collaborate with peers as they explore and observe the natural world around them. This class provides opportunities to interact with animals, investigate the garden, and engage in authentic, sensory-rich experiences. With animals in the classroom and plenty of outdoor exploration, students will connect science concepts to real-life encounters in a fun and meaningful way.
Each day, in addition to the day's topics, students will have time outside, weather permitting. Students will need a sack lunch, water bottle, and closed-toe shoes. A snack will be provided.
