What makes sound? In this class, students will explore the science of sound waves, vibrations, and how we hear different noises. Through fun experiments, learners will discover how sounds travel through different materials, why some sounds are loud and others soft, and how musical instruments create unique tones. From building their own instruments to experimenting with pitch and volume, students will engage in interactive activities that help them understand the fundamentals of sound and the science behind how we experience it.
Set on a hobby farm on the outskirts of New Braunfels, students will collaborate with peers as they explore and observe the natural world around them. This class provides opportunities to interact with animals, investigate the garden, and engage in authentic, sensory-rich experiences. With animals in the classroom and plenty of outdoor exploration, students will connect science concepts to real-life encounters in a fun and meaningful way.
Each day, in addition to the day's topics, students will have time outside, weather permitting. Students will need a sack lunch, water bottle, and closed-toe shoes. A snack will be provided.
