The kitchen is the perfect lab for discovering the science behind food! In this class, students will explore the chemical reactions that take place when we cook, bake, and prepare food. They'll investigate how ingredients interact, what happens when we mix or heat substances, and why certain foods behave the way they do. From making dough rise to creating colorful ice cream, students will use their curiosity to uncover the science behind their favorite dishes, all while learning about the chemistry that makes food both delicious and fascinating.
Set on a hobby farm on the outskirts of New Braunfels, students will collaborate with peers as they explore and observe the natural world around them. This class provides opportunities to interact with animals, investigate the garden, and engage in authentic, sensory-rich experiences. With animals in the classroom and plenty of outdoor exploration, students will connect science concepts to real-life encounters in a fun and meaningful way.
Each day, in addition to the day's topics, students will have time outside, weather permitting. Students will need a sack lunch, water bottle, and closed-toe shoes. A snack will be provided.
